Ann Curry
Ann Curry, an American journalist and photojournalist who has been covering wars and natural disasters for over 45 years, focuses on the suffering of people living in these regions. Curry has reported on wars around the world, including in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry, (born November 19 1956 Agana American journalist and television anchor and news reporter who was most well-known for her job as a correspondent for the Today show a morning news program that was broadcast by the National Broadcasting Co. (NBC). Curry was renowned for her reporting on human rights issues in war-stricken nations and natural catastrophes. Curry has a father who was an U.S. Navy sailor and a Japanese woman. Her father was with the mother of her in Japan when he was a stationed there after World War II. As a result of her father's active military service, the family relocated frequently. Curry completed high school within Ashland Oregon. In 1978 she graduated in 1978 from the University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in journalism. Her exposure to different cultures as well as her experiences throughout her childhood likely influenced her empathetic way of communicating on issues of international significance. Curry's family relocated often which is why Curry didn't stay at one school longer than 2 months. Curry attended various schools which included San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia as well as Virginia. Then, she graduated from Ashland High School. As an intern at KTVL Channel 10 Medford, Oregon, she started her career in broadcasting. She became the first woman news reporter at the station, when she aged 22. Following that, she went on to become an anchor and reporter at KGW which is an NBC affiliate station located in Portland. The following year, she relocated into Los Angeles as a reporter for the KCBS-TV. It was during her association with the station for 6 years that she was awarded two Emmy Awards.
